DESC and DFF launch ‘Dubai Cyber Star’ competition

Dubai Electronic Security Centre (DESC) in collaboration with Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has launched the first edition of ‘Dubai Cyber Star’ competition

The competition allows innovators and entrepreneurs in the field of cybersecurity to present their ideas to create pioneering institutions that contribute to support the emirate’s economy and the vision of Dubai Cyber Security Strategy.

The submitted studies will be evaluated by technical panel experts in the field of cybersecurity, resulting with two winners earning a financial reward and a desk space in “Area 2071”.

In alignment with the national innovation strategy, which is considered a basis to advance the position of the UAE as a global power in this sector as well as assist it to diversify its economy’ the purpose of the initiative will help support the baseline project of the participants as well as give them a chance to kickstart their start-ups to venture into greater prospects for recognition in the market and success.

The competition also aims to encourage innovations from students, researchers, and owners of startups of all nationalities in the field of cybersecurity, and work to create a new generation of young entrepreneurs, with the aim of encouraging specialised industries.

Bringing to light the lack of adequate interest and funding to research concerned with the security of digital space, the outcome of the Cyberstar competition contributes to the cumulate solid solutions relative to the field of cybersecurity to encourage further development of research centers and scholars pursuing cybersecurity in the UAE.

Moreover, DESC’s ongoing collaborations with partners in the academic community, this competition sets to establish new prospects for building competencies in the new generations in becoming the future experts of cybersecurity.

The prize for the final two winners will help venture them into a recognised start-ups with a requisite that enlists entrepreneurs or start-ups are with no more than five years specialised in the field of cybersecurity.
