Abu Dhabi Ports launched its third annual Truck Drivers Safety Campaign to promote safe driving among port users

The week-long campaign, titled ‘Be Aware & Drive with Care’ ran from April 24-26 at Khalifa Port and April 27-28 at Zayed Port with an aim to impart safe driving tips to about 2,000 people who regularly drive inside port premises.

Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, said, “This awareness drive is one of the most important events in Abu Dhabi Ports’ calendar as it has already made a positive impact on the road traffic safety standards in our ports. This is part of our proactive approach to ensure the safety of everyone using our port services.”

The campaign – organised in partnership with Borouge, Abu Dhabi Terminals (ADT), and Grand Mills – was supported by Abu Dhabi Police, Emirates Traffic Safety Society, Emirates Driving Company, National Security Institute, department of transport (DOT), Medeor Hospital, Life Line Hospital (LLH) and DULSCO.

Martijn van de Linde, CEO of Abu Dhabi Terminals, added, “With more than a thousand trucks and cars entering Khalifa Port Container Terminal on a daily basis, Abu Dhabi Terminals has a strong commitment to keeping the roads safe. We are proud to join forces with our strategic partners to raise awareness about this important issue.”

Abu Dhabi Police and EDC delivered presentations on safe driving in English, Urdu, Pashtu and Arabic, while free truck safety inspections will be offered by EDC and Abu Dhabi Ports’ fire rescue services at Khalifa Port.

Also under the campaign, the National Security Institute’s (NSI) Community Safety Simulation Training Trailer will offer guidance on safety and emergency preparedness. Borouge and Abu Dhabi Terminals will give tips on forklift safety.
