Hikvision has consolidated its position as the world’s largest manufacturer of surveillance cameras
According to research recently conducted by market information provider IHS, the Chinese company doubled its market share over the last two years.
Hikvision, which was founded in 2001 and employs around 14,000 people worldwide, now accounts for 16.3 per cent of the global market, topping every global CCTV and surveillance equipment category in the IHS report.
“We are very pleased to see Hikvision’s rankings in CCTV and video surveillance equipment,” said Hikvision vice president Cynthia Ho. “This is an attribute to our continuous R&D innovation and investment.”
In the global network security camera market, Hikvision increased its market share from 9.7 per cent to 18.9 per cent over the last two years, leapfrogging Axis Communications, while in the category of Hardware NVRs, it jumped from outside the top ten in 2013 to claim top spot with 15.7 per cent of the current market.
The company also made significant inroads into the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) market, now ranking second, with a 9.2 per cent share.
“We appreciate our customers’ and partners’ support and trust in Hikvision,” Ho added. “Looking forward, we will continue to seize every opportunity to meet the market need and keep investing in R&D, offering more benefits and service to our customers.”
