Restrata, a global leader in safety and security consultancy and training services, has appointed a new Managing Director to lead the organisation’s continued growth and international expansion

Botan Osman has been appointed managing director of Restrata. Botan joined Restrata in 2013 as Country Director for Kurdistan and North Iraq, and most recently held the position as Global Director of Business Development. Prior to this, Botan was Technology Adviser to the Prime Minister and Head of Information Technology at the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of Iraq.

Following the acquisition of Stirling Group last year, Restrata now covers the full spectrum of security, safety and risk, providing Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) services to the oil and gas industry across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

During his time at the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq he founded the Department of Information Technology and developed a number of important initiatives including a state-of-the-art Regional IT Academy, the KRG Biometric Electronic Identification Card System and a cloud based regional data centre.

Botan holds a BSC in Software Engineering from Manchester University and has over 18 years’ IT and management experience. As Managing Director, Botan will oversee Restrata’s growth as it looks to build on its success to date in delivering cutting edge safety, security and technology solutions in both new and existing markets across the globe.

Restrata Chairman Chris St. George said: “We are evolving as an organisation and adapting our response in line with the needs of the sectors and countries in which we operate. Botan assumes the role of Managing Director at an exciting time in our development as we embark on a new era in terms of how we consult, design, deliver and manage projects providing solutions across the full spectrum of safety and security risks.

“Having played an important role in shaping Restrata’s international growth and fostering our relationships with key partners around the globe, he not only understands the vital role we play in terms of mitigating safety and security risks to safeguard critical infrastructures, he also brings a wealth of experience in developing and delivering initiatives that meet those needs.”

Commenting on his new position, Botan, said: “I am pleased to take on the role at this exciting stage in Restrata’s development and I’m honoured to be heading up such a well-respected and influential organisation.

“Keeping technology at the heart of everything we do allows us to deliver fit-for-purpose tools and solutions in line with the best industry standards and practices. I hope to be able to make a valuable contribution to on-going and future initiatives to ensure we remain at the forefront of the safety and security sector worldwide.”
