Nominations have opened for OPITO’s sixth annual global Safety and Competency Awards

The awards, which recognise companies in the oil and gas industry that are committed to building a safe and competent workforce, will be presented at the OPITO Safety and Competency Conference (OSCC) at Abu Dhabi’s Dusit Thani Hotel on 3 November 2015.

“Year on year we see organisations reaching the highest standards in safety across the oil and gas industry and the OSCC Awards is our way of recognising and rewarding their ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and competent workforce,” said OPITO group CEO David Doig. “It is also pleasing to witness an increasing number of organisations looking to standardise their training and implement a recognised set of procedures.”

Nominated companies will be judged by an independent panel of industry leaders on factors such as how effectively they have adopted OPITO standards, the number of staff trained, and examples of how a tangible improvement in safety and competence has been achieved.

OSCC is a global safety-based event for the oil and gas industry, which seeks to bring together operators, contractors, training organisations and the supply chain to improve HSE standards in the sector.
