Nestlé has received independent certification in employee health and safety for its operations in Palestine

The Occupational Health & Safety Advisory Services (OHSAS) awarded the multinational food and beverage giant its 18001 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System certification for its warehouse and office facilities in the country.

Nestle said the decision, which was announced in tandem with another certification for environmental sustainability, confirms the company’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure workplace for all of its employees.

“Nestlé in Palestine follows a rigorous internal Safety, Health and Environmental guide, in line with Nestlé’s recently published Creating Shared Value commitments to society in the Middle East, which include ensuring that all Nestlé units have the necessary systems in place to deliver the same level of basic safety and health protection for all employees,” said Anton Hazboun, Nestlé’s general business manager in Palestine. “It entails training employees on issues such as civil defence, safe driving, safety at work and more.”

As well as its Palestinian warehouses and offices, all Nestlé factories in the Middle East were also certified for OHSAS 18001 in late 2014, along with its distribution centres in Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon.
