DNV, an independent authority in energy solutions and assurance, has unveiled its latest standard, DNV-ST-F207, tailored for hybrid thermoplastic composite flexible pipes (TCPs)

This standard addresses the distinctive challenges encountered by traditional risers in deepwater applications, where factors like high top tension and corrosive environments pose significant obstacles.

Over the past decade, TCPs have emerged as a compelling alternative to conventional steel pipes. Offering a blend of lightweight construction, flexibility, spoolability, and resistance to corrosion, TCPs have transformed the landscape of fluid and gas transportation.

DNV's latest standard, DNV-ST-F207, aims to facilitate the integration of cutting-edge technologies, including carbon fibre armour, into the design of flexible risers. By rigorously qualifying these innovations and ensuring their alignment with established international benchmarks such as API Spec 17J and DNV-ST-F119, DNV is committed to enhancing the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of deepwater projects.

This new standard adopts a holistic approach, merging diverse design methodologies into a unified framework. By engineering components to withstand diverse stressors and subjecting them to stringent testing protocols, DNV ensures compliance with safety standards across varied operating conditions.
