New Abu Dhabi Health centre to combat workplace accidents

HSE

President Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a law to establish the Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre (ADPHC)

ADPHC is an independent legal entity that is set up to collect evidence and data related to serious workplace injuries and accidents.

The centre aims to preserve the health of Abu Dhabi residents and ensure the safety of all workers in the UAE capital.

ADPHC will work in liaison with the authorities concerned to determine the causes of workplace incidents and reduce risks.

The authority, which follows Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DHDA), will also deliver services such as registering DHDA-licensed service providers and specialists in the fields of public and preventive health; reviewing and approving systems followed by entities in Abu Dhabi.

The centre will conduct surveys and develop data on public and preventive health and will also create, implement and develop programmes and activities in the field.

ADPHC’s programmes will also cover health protection for workers, disease prevention, and rehabilitation.

Worker welfare is a priority in the UAE, where health and safety is a critical component of doing business across all industries.

The Centre will also act as an early warning system for public and preventive health, and promote the adoption of healthy lifestyles and behaviours in the emirate.
