African health tech company Helium Health has acquired Qatar-based doctor booking service Meddy Inc, which is embarking on its first expansion outside the continent
Nigerian-based Helium, which also operates in Ghana, Liberia, Senegal, Kenya and Uganda, announced that it had acquired Meddy Inc, which also has operations in the UAE. The company said investment in digital infrastructure will account for 30% of healthcare investment in the GCC between 2023-2030.
Helium was founded in 2016 and works with 500 healthcare facilities and 7,000 medical professionals and facilitates 300,000 patient visits per month, including private and public healthcare institutions, in West Africa.
Meddy Inc, founded 2015, has facilitated 200,000 bookings, to help healthcare providers generate approximately US$130mn in billings in Qatar and the UAE. The company has raised US$1.8mn from angel investors.
