Dammam Airports Company (DACO) said it has awarded UK-based Serco Group Plc a 10-year contract for fire and rescue services at the Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport (KFIA)

“We are delighted to enter into a partnership with Serco through this new contract," DACO CEO, Turki Al Jawini, said.

"By combining Serco’s expertise as a globally recognised fire and rescue service provider with Dammam Airports Company’s ambition, our objective is to serve as one of the effective enablers in the transformation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector in line with Vision 2030. The collaboration will also help us contribute to the growth of the Eastern Region’s economy through the development of an efficient and effective gateway for passengers and cargo,” Al Jawini added.

Governments in the Middle East, to attract investments and be seen as a hub for trade, are investing in expanding the capacity of airports to handle growing air traffic.

“We are excited at this addition to Serco’s aviation portfolio," Serco Middle East’s CEO, David Greer, said.

"We very much look forward to working with DACO on the provision of this vital service and support their ambitious growth plans for King Fahd International Airport, the gateway to a vibrant and growing Eastern Province. Not only is this an excellent addition to the contract portfolio of the Middle East’s aviation sector, but it exemplifies the shared responsibility and values DACO and Serco have in relation to the quality of safety and service in this field. The successful delivery of Fire and Rescue services within KFIA is a key milestone in the diversification of our service offering within the aviation sector,” Greer added.
