Patol launches its latest line type heat detector

Fire Safety

The SecuriSens ADW 535 line-type heat detector can protect against harsh environments, according to Patol

It is an intelligent detector, which is designed specifically to cope with the most difficult conditions, such as incidents where other forms of detection may not help. This includes fully automatic monitoring of large open areas, environments with extreme humidity and high temperatures, in applications where resistance to corrosive gases is required or where differentiation between false alarms and actual fire incidents is a real focus.

The various customisation choices are accessible directly from the detector unit or through the ADW Config tool. The detector has Dynamic Heat Watch (DHW) technology, which decreases the possibility of false alarms by ensuring that a transient temperature increase induced by ambient circumstances does not trigger an alarm state.

The ADW 535 blends a proven functional principle with the most recent advances in sensor and CPU technology. In the area that needs to be monitored, a sensing tube filled with normal air is fitted, with a completely electronic pressure sensor permanently recording the pressure. The tube is constantly tracked by the processing electronics, which compares the findings to the alert criteria.

In addition to the conventional version, the detector is available in an ATEX-approved heavy duty form. Both solutions have been authorised in accordance with the EN54-22 standard.

The sensing tubes made of copper, stainless steel, or Teflon ensure that it can survive harsh environmental conditions and high temperatures. Tunnels, car parks, food industry and chemical industry sites, as well as various high temperature applications such as steel mills, paint shops, kilns and gas turbines, are all examples of its uses.

Steve Wilder, senior account manager at Patol said, “A fire risk assessment should be a prerequisite for any site. In certain situations this reveals that conventional detection is unsuitable due to the specifics of the environment and the challenges it presents in terms of effective fire detection. With the ADW 535, many of the factors which are common in such challenging circumstances can be addressed, particularly given the ease with which the settings can be configured to adapt to specific environmental conditions.”
