Liberty Building Solutions has signed an agreement with manufacturers Ramtech, a move that aims to distribute the WES+ wireless fire alert system, specifically developed to meet increasing health and safety legislation for construction sites
Under the agreement, Liberty will distribute the WES+ system to the UAE market, where fire safety regulations have been updated by Dubai Civil Defence in their UAE Fire and Life Safety Code.
WES+ is one of the leading wireless fire alarm systems in Europe. The system sounds a site-wide alarm if one call point is activated, aiming to allow personnel to evacuate to safety.
According to Ramtech, “The WES+ signal is capable of passing through solid materials found on site including steel, masonry and concrete. The interlinked call points create a completely secure, wireless network, ensuring all areas receive the same audible signal.”
The WES+ has been engineered for use on construction sites in particular. Liberty said that it focus on incorporating a number of usability features that will appeal to its customers, such as wireless operation, three-year battery life and ability to add or remove alarm units.
WES+ also focus on ensuring the fact that the existing technologies on site or in nearby buildings wont get affected due to it, said Ramtech. It further aims to eliminate trip hazards on site and make it easier to reposition units as construction or demolition work progresses.
“We took the decision to distribute WES+ in the UAE because it is EN 54 compliant,” said Richard Botting, managing director of Liberty Building Solutions. “Our own research confirmed that this is the de-facto standard for fire alarms on construction sites. WES+ also incorporates many usability features that we have not found in other systems,” Botting added.
Speaking about the fire in the construction sites, he said, “Fire on construction sites is a serious concern for all our customers, especially in high rise buildings where instantly being alerted to a fire can saves lives. WES+ now provides our customers with a technology-based solution for reducing these risks on site. Developers that specify WES+ are demonstrating that they take their responsibilities to employees and their clients’ assets seriously.”
