Fire Safety

Fire safety is a key focus at Intersec 2024, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from 16-18 January

The exhibition’s Fire & Safety segment is hosted by Dubai Civil Defense and includes 400 local and international exhibitors. The event showcases the latest firefighting technologies and industry best practices while fostering connections between international experts in the field.

The opening session of the Fire & Rescue Conference focused on the revolutionary technologies that are transforming the industry. Speaking at the session, Saeed Alshaiba, information security officer of Dubai Civil Defense said, “In August 2021, we introduced Dubai Civil Defense Readiness, an application that combines several systems from Dubai Civil Defense into a single application. Crucially, this application enables us to predict fires using Artificial Intelligence (AI), identifying when a fire is most likely to happen and helping us to be prepared for any incident.”

Other sessions include ‘The Future of Fire Safety in Smart Buildings’, led by Philip Witts, COO ATEIS, and the ‘International Collaboration in Fire Safety’ session, hosted by Mark Hardingham, chair of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC).

Hochiki Middle East FZE, a leading provider of innovative Japanese-designed life safety solutions, is showcasing the company’s latest advanced fire detection systems, alarm devices, control panels, and wireless detection systems. Shahab Anjum, the head of Sales at Hochiki Middle East commented,

“The pandemic accelerated the adoption of remote monitoring and management technologies. Fire alarm systems with remote access capabilities now allow for real-time monitoring, diagnostics and maintenance without the need for physical presence.

“AI advanced sensor technologies improve the accuracy and reliability of detection, while reducing false alarms and cloud-based fire alarm solutions offers scalability and accessibility.”

A prominent exhibitor in the Fire & Safety segment is UAE-based NAFFCO, which is showcasing a comprehensive portfolio of cutting-edge products including fire trucks, fire and smoke detection technology, fire alarms and fire extinguishing systems.

Elsewhere, Safety and Health exhibitors presented their latest safety wear and equipment collections during the Safety Walk, which was held on Intersec’s main stage. Sponsored by EnSafe Evacuation Chair, Jutec, and Teijin, the Safety Walk feature underlines the growing importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and shares the latest guidelines for PPE use and maintenance.

The 25th edition of Intersec encompasses five broad product sections: Commercial & Perimeter Security, Homeland Security & Policing, Fire & Rescue, Safety & Health, and Cyber Security. Under the theme of ‘Innovating security tech for a quarter century’, the exhibition hosts 1,000 exhibitors from more than 60 nations with more than 45,000 international trade visitors attending.
