Intersec 2022 welcomed regional market leaders, including Eaton, who showcased new product ranges and additions, their achievements across the Middle East and strategy for the year ahead.
Ashraf Yehia, Eaton's Managing Director, spoke to Health, Safety and Security Review Middle East at this year's Intersec, dissecting the company's recent product launches and strategy for 2022.
"We're here at Intersec to share our new offerings to market. The new GuidedLED - FX edition brings the visual guide solution from static to adaptive. We launched successfully internationally in Q4 2021 and we're here to share it with the Middle Eastern market.
"Our new systems are focused - adaptive to digital technologies, be it cloud-based or otherwise. To support these we've integrated cybersecure features across the range. We're always looking to invest in new solutions and Intersec is the place to showcase these."
On the changing digital landscape that Eaton is growing around, Yehia explained, "Keep in mind that the digital transformation is simply supplying a new challenge. We've launched and expanded our new platform Brightlayer, an open system to optimise power usage and distribution through operators' secure assets.
"This is our key proposition to the future of the digital landscape, and one of our most valuable. In terms of the future, customers are looking for totally connected, cyber-secure assets. Life will not go back to the way it was before and we are here to facilitate adaptation to the new normal."
On the region's fire safety market and where it needs to develop in 2022, Ashraf Yehia said, "I would say, and this isn't a challenge but an opportunity, education is key. We need to make sure everyone is educated. They need to learn how critical fire systems are - they should not be considered as an accessory or luxury. When you need fire systems, it's the life of citizens and workers you're dealing with. You must make sure it's the best in class. Eaton can enable this."
The challenge of cybersecurity is ever-growing, with Yehia explaining, "We consider cybersecurity one of our main building blocks. Our solutions are approved to IAS standards, we ensure all systems are approved by their necessary certifying boards.
"If our systems have any weak points, it will expose all data assets and enable attacks. Organisations must ensure they're dealing with dealers that put this vulnerability at the forefront of problem-solving and design."
Discussing Eaton's support for the Middle Eastern client base, the company's Managing Director elaborated, "We're regularly in touch with customers through seminars, conferences, training opportunities. On another level, we launch new products directly within markets to educate the consumer on the growing slate of technology.
"We always value listening and learning, and use customer feedback to guide our 5 to 10 year plans of development."
Concluding with a view of the year ahead, Yehia surmised, "Every year we're looking to raise our standards. This year we'll focus on educating local bodies, reinforcing and complying with local regulations, and making sure we can guarantee the right level of safety and security as always."
