Young achievers honoured at ISNR 2018

His Highness Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, paid tribute to the winners of the Students Innovation Award. The awards are part of ISNR 2018 under the theme "Your Innovation is Our Safety" and they recognise innovative ideas in security and policing. Among this year’s winners, young women were well represented with all three university category prizes going to female students, as well as the winning entry among the participating schools.

Aimed at promoting innovation and creating a competitive, enabling environment for students, the award encourages creative minds to develop ways to meet the future needs of the UAE. The award attracted 275 students from various universities and schools across the country.

In the University Category, the first place winner was  Higher Colleges of Technology - Madinat Zayed Women's Campus for Smart Evacuation System, a civil defence innovation. In second place was  Higher Colleges of Technology - Ras Al Khaimah Women's Campus for its civil defence innovation, the Long Range Wireless Rescue System. Taking out the third place prize was Higher Colleges of Technology - Abu Dhabi Women's Campus for Smart Board to Enhance Pedestrian Crossing Safety.

In the School Category, Mozah Khalfan Al Ali won the Youngest Inventor prize for her idea My Bus Does Not Forget Me. 

Al Rafaa Secondary School won first place for its civil defence innovation, Emergency Robot. In second place,  Applied Technologies High School (Grade Three) was honoured for its civil defence innovation, Smart Kids’ Chair. In  third place was Bahithat Albadiya Secondary School for its civil defence innovation, Child Suffocation Rescuer.
