International SOS and Control Risks Travel Risk Map for 2017 provides a comprehensive overview of global health and travel security risks

International SOS and Control Risks' Travel Risk Map for 2017 says that the majority of Middle East based respondents say that the risk to their travelers have increased. This figure is at 69 per cent. However, the global average is 72 per cent, which is reassuring to the Middle East.

Terrorism has increased the risk to travelers, with 85 per cent of respondents citing that as the main threat, while civil unrest, at 52 per cent, is a larger concern to many, more than usual.

The majority of Middle Eastern respondents say that the overall risks to the health and safety of travelers has increased in the region (84 per cent). This is the highest response rate of any region, as only 48 per cent say the risk has increased in Europe, 26 per cent in North Africa and 20 per cent in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Nearly two third of Middle Eastern respondents (63 per cent) expect risks faced by business travelers to increase over the next 12 months. This is six points higher than the global average. No respondents in the Middle East expected the risks to decline in the next 12 months.
