Axis Communications will introduce AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller and AXIS Entry Manager software with integration of HID Global’s Mobile Access, with an aim to provide a more secure and convenient access control to buildings, rooms and areas using a mobile device

The launch will take place at IFSEC International 2017 from 20-22 June at London ExCeL.

“Axis and HID are both well-known, global brands that are partnering together to develop open, IP-based secure access solutions,” said Stephanie Hensler, director of business development, access control at Axis Communications.

The company stated that the Axis and HID mobile access control solution will enable mobile devices such as smartphones to function as credentials, allowing people gain a more secured entry to buildings.

Axis added that as mobile credentials are gaining greater acceptance and adoption, this integrated solution will meet business demands to support mobile-enabled workforces.

With the integration, AXIS Entry Manager software will manage all connected AXIS A1001 Network Door Controllers as well as the HID cloud-based portal to manage users and mobile IDs.

According to Axis, other third-party software can also be used for integrating more advanced access management functionalities.

Unlike the traditional printed identity credentials, the new solution will store secure identities on smartphones for opening doors and locks, aiming to improve convenience for the end users in a cost-effective and simple manner.

Axis emphasised that by integrating HID Global’s Mobile Access solutions with its software and door controller, the company is planning to create a combined solution to giving convenience in a mobile-first world and increasing the security level as demanded by the businesses and their employees.

“It is an easy-to-deploy, easy-to-use solution,” said Hensler.
