Schneider Electric provides summer essentials to Dubai seafarers

Schneider Electric, the energy management and automation company, has provided seafarers in Dubai with ‘summer essentials’ kits to help them cope with the hot months in a corporate social responsibility initiative

Each kit consists of eight basic vital items including a reusable water-bottle, rehydration tablets, a small towel, a t-shirt, a pair of flip-flops, shower-gel, packet of playing cards and a roll of garbage bags. The initiative was undertaken by Schneider Electric in collaboration with The Angel Appeal: Mission to Seafarers.

Speaking on the initiative, Schneider Electric president-Gulf countries, Pakistan and East Mediterranean Benoit Dubarle said, “As a proactive partner in supporting the UAE’s sustainability efforts, it is our ongoing focus at Schneider Electric to engage with various communities in the country, understand their needs and do our bit in fulfilling them. This is an important part of our wider objectives as a global energy leader.

Dubarle led volunteers from the company in distributing 200 summer essentials kits to seafarers working on commercial cargo dhows in Deira.

“We organised this outreach to recognize the efforts and contributions of seafarers to Dubai’s thriving trade and economy. With the temperatures continuing to soar in this region, the seafarers are delighted with this small gesture. I commend the efforts of all those involved in putting this thoughtful drive together,” added Dubarle.
