Hikvision launches ColorVu 2.0 cameras now with 4K and varifocal options

Industrial

Hikvision, an IoT solution provider with video as its core competency, has announced its new generation of ColorVu cameras for more vivid 24/7 colourful imaging and has first included 4K and varifocal options in the full-colour offerings

Colour-related information is crucial to the identification of details of events, especially at night, in video security. Conventional infrared cameras provide only black and white images for night-time monitoring. As a result, people, vehicles, or other important objects can easily blur and blend into the background, making it difficult to distinguish critical elements.

Hikvision ColorVu technology solves this common challenge faced by many security camera users, enabling cameras to produce colourful videos even in extremely dim environments.

Enriched ColorVu options with 4K and varifocal cameras

ColorVu 2.0 cameras offer enhanced market options for both Turbo HD (DF8 T series/DF3 T series/DF0 T series) and network products. The Enriched ColorVu series can satisfy a wide range of customer needs, from high-performance products to budget-friendly choices and smart solutions.

Hikvision has now included 4K ColorVu cameras in its product range, bringing day and night colour imaging to ultra-high-definition levels. With improved image quality and richer detail, 4K ColorVu cameras can be used across an even wider range of scenarios, including stadiums, airports, ports and parking lots, where clear and high-resolution images are needed.

In addition, Hikvision has also added varifocal cameras (the DF8T-Z series) to ColorVu 2.0 models to create 24/7 colour imaging in all focal lengths. With 2.8-12 mm motorised lenses, ColorVu varifocal cameras will allow users to zoom in on colourful images at night.

Enhanced colourful imaging with AA manufacturing technology

ColorVu 2.0 cameras lenses have kept the F1.0 super-aperture design, allowing four times more light to enter the lens than conventional cameras (that have F2.0). Focusing high-definition cameras with large F1.0 apertures is extremely technical for the industry, requiring very strict and accurate manufacturing. Hikvision has applied its advanced Active Alignment (AA) technology in the production of ColorVu cameras to ensure that the adjustment accuracy is within four pixels, even less than 1/30 hair.

In the meantime, with optimised sensors, the night-time colour imaging of ColorVu 2.0 cameras is much brighter than conventional cameras. A new 3D dynamic noise reduction (DNR) algorithm helps cameras clearly record additional remote details and deliver sharper images. In addition, the ColorVu 2.0 cameras are equipped with a soft and warm additional light that illuminates to ensure colour imaging even in light-free environments.

Quick target search with AcuSense technology

Most users of security cameras only need to focus on human and vehicle alarms, especially at night. These newly released ColorVu cameras can integrate Hikvision's AcuSense technology to help users focus on security-related events only.

Powered by deep learning algorithms, ColorVu cameras can distinguish people and vehicles from other moving objects such as rain, leaves and animals. Alarms will only be triggered when the preset type of intrusion occurs. With this solution, video clips are sorted by categories of people and vehicles, and object classification greatly improves search efficiency.
