Intertek awards business continuity management certification to SATORP

Intertek, a Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has awarded the ISO 22301:2012 Business Continuity Management System certification to Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (SATORP), a petrochemical joint venture refinery between Saudi Aramco and Total

ISO 22301 is a globally recognised international standard for the Business Continuity Management System, which specifies requirements for the planning, implementation, operation, monitoring, review, maintenance and continuous improvement of a management system to protect against, reduce the likelihood of occurrence, prepare for, respond to and recover from disruptive incidents when they arise.

An official award ceremony was held at SATORP headquarters in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, during which Samir Ahmed, director of business assurance at Intertek, presented the certificate to Hatem Al-Ahmadi, HSSE manager of SATORP and offered his congratulations to the senior management team. Also present during the ceremony were Raphael A. Duflos, vice-president manufacturing; Adel A. Mejhed, vice-president-HR&SS; Bader A. Al-Dubaikel, head of business resiliency programmes and Waqas Ahmed, area manager of Intertek Business Assurance in KSA Eastern Region.

Hatem Al-Ahmadi said, “Achieving the certification for Business Continuity is a testament of SATORP’s strength and resilience to withstand any threats and risks. ISO 22301:2012 certification shows our pledge to all stakeholders that we will implement and maintain effective measures for continuity of our business despite COVID-19 or any other disruptive incident. We are honoured to have received this certification from Intertek and would like to thank their team for professionalism and diligence throughout the certification process.”

Samir Ahmed added, “We are pleased to be working with SATORP on this certification process. The adoption of Business Continuity Management system prepares an organisation to display resilience and confidence to customers and other interested parties of a continuous operation, even if any incidents occur. By achieving ISO 22301 certification, SATORP has demonstrated that it has a structured risk management system in place to ensure business continuity.
