Aster Al Raffah Hospital launches free mobile testing service

Private hospital establishment Aster Al Raffah Hospitals and Clinics, in collaboration with the Oman Ministry of Health, has launched Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services

The initiative aims to provide free medical consultations and testing to residents of Wilayat Muttrah – a Muscat province that has been particularly badly hit by the pandemic.

The initiative aims to provide the highest standards of care for residents who may have been disrupted in access to medical services due to the ongoing pandemic and subsequent restrictions on movement. The highly accessible service allows residents to consult medical experts and share their health concerns relating to COVID-19 without having to visit a busy hospital.

A doctor, a nurse, a medical attendant, a driver, and several Aster volunteers staff the clinic every day. Most people visiting the mobile bus have come into direct contact with a COVID-19 patient, or have a fever or cough.

Dr Mazin bin Jawad Al-Khabouri, director general, D.G. Private Health Establishments, said, “We are fighting against the spread of Coronavirus to ensure that the citizens and residents of our country stay safe and healthy. Since the movement of people is restricted now, we are committed to doing everything we possibly can to continue to deliver the same high standard of healthcare. Through the Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Service, we can provide prompt consultation and care in the community's heart.”

In addition to the mobile clinic, Aster Volunteers will also be distributing food parcels to workers in labour camps around Muscat.

Dr Ashendu Kumar Pandey, CEO of Aster Al Raffah Hospitals and Clinics, Oman, said, “Our number one priority is to ensure the continued health of communities across Oman by delivering best-in-class healthcare services to those who need it most. We are constantly thinking of new ways to collaborate with the authorities during these unprecedented times, and Aster Volunteers Mobile Medical Services represents Aster Al Raffah Hospital’s humble contribution to the Sultanate of Oman’s healthcare.”
