HSE

ADNOC Distribution has been awarded the International Organisation for Standardisation Certification (ISO 50001) for its energy management system (EnMS)

The certificate was presented to ADNOC Distribution’s acting CEO Saeed Mubarak Al Rashdi by Matthew Skinner, regional managing director for Gulf and Pakistan at Intertek Certification, an international accredited certifying body.

The ISO 50001 certification demonstrates ADNOC Distribution’s commitment to becoming a world-class retail fuel business as it delivers on its objectives to become an efficient and sustainable business, operating at international standards.

The certification provides a framework for organisations around the world to use energy more efficiently through the development of an EnMS, which enables energy management to be integrated into overall operations. ADNOC Distribution developed a bespoke EnMS which was implemented a year before it was presented for certification.

Al Rashdi said that the EnMS has been developed to meet the company’s specific needs and is in line with international best practices and standards.

Skinner commented, “The ISO 50001 certification testifies that ADNOC Distribution is committed to implementing effective energy management systems across its operation and demonstrates the commitment of its leadership and employees to develop an energy policy that has clear targets for energy use, and an action plan to achieve those targets.”

ADNOC Distribution’s EnMS aims to provide an energy policy, guidelines, procedures and formats to ensure international best standards are met. Al Rashdi presented the Energy Team and 27 other employees with certificates of appreciation at the event.

The ISO is an independent, non-governmental, international organisation with a membership of 161 national standard bodies. In addition to ISO 50001, ADNOC Distribution currently has ISO certifications for Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:20110), Information Security Management System (ISO 27001) and Laboratory Management System (ISO 17025).
