British Safety Council has announced the winners of the 2017 Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour awards
The Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour awards are awarded for the exemplary management of health, safety and environmental risks by businesses around the world. The 57 Sword of Honour and 15 Globe of Honour winning companies have, according to the British Safety Council, demonstrated to an independent adjudication panel a proven track record of excellence in managing risks to workers’ health and safety or to the environment from the organisations’ activities.
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, said: “On behalf of the trustees and staff of the British Safety Council, I congratulate the winning organisations and their staff for their commitment to keeping their workplaces safe and healthy and minimising risks to the environment.
“The winners of the 2017 Sword of Honour and Globe of Honour awards are ‘the best of the best’ performers in health, safety or environmental management worldwide. They have not only achieved five stars in the British Safety Council’s independent health and safety and/or environmental management audits, but they have also demonstrated to an independent adjudication panel that they had a proven track record and culture of best practice in health and safety or environmental management.
“The awards process and the final ceremony celebrate their success and encourage other organisations around the world to follow their lead, promoting the business case for proportionate management of health, safety and sustainability.”
The winning organisations came from a wide range of industry sectors in the UK, mainland Europe, India and the Middle East, including construction, education and training, energy generation and distribution, food and drink, leisure, logistics, manufacturing, leisure, retail and transport.
