The opening ceremony of ISNR 2016 was a fitting and impressive start to the show
ISNR 2016, held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, deputy chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, literally got off to an explosive start, with a spectacular opening ceremony featuring the live simulation of a co-ordinated emergency response to a disaster involving a plane crashing into a chemicals factory.
The ceremony, which took place in the Grandstand at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, was attended by Lt General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, along with other dignitaries and senior officials.
The event kicked off with parades and performances from the brass bands of police and army forces from across the emirates, following which the Abu Dhabi and Dubai police forces came together to play the National Anthem.
The simulation, entitled ‘The Aftershock II’ and bringing together the UAE’s Ministry of the Interior, CBRN, and the emergency response services, admirably illustrated how effective coordination and collaboration can prevent or minimise the loss of life and damage to critical infrastructure.
