The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Middle East Conference will highlight the latest developments in safeguarding workers in the region
This will be the seventh edition of the IOSH Middle East Conference and will take place on 27 April 2016 in Muscat, Oman, under the patronage of the Ministry of Manpower. The conference is supported by the Oman Society for Petroleum Services and the Oman Society of Contractors.
The conference will explore how successful initiatives are implemented and how organisations are addressing the challenges as well as offer guidance from experienced, high-profile international speakers on how to promote health and safety in the workplace. It will focus on the role of leadership in creating safe and healthy systems of work.
The conference will be chaired by IOSH president Karen McDonnell and the keynote address will be given by Oman Society for Petroleum Services CEO Musallam Al Mandhry. Topics presentations will include managing working at height, eliminating serious injuries and fatalities in oil and gas, and the barriers to workforce engagement.
Following the conference, the Oman branch of IOSH will hold its annual general meeting, where Neelesh Sogani will replace Peter McNair at the Chair.
Sogani commented, “It is encouraging that organisations across Oman are increasingly placing emphasis on the safety and health of their workers. In doing so, they are experiencing improved reputation, resilience and results.”
