Demonstrating best practice in emergency evacuation – Evac+Chair at FM Expo 2019

Evacuation risks for our buildings are changing. As we’re building taller, more accessible buildings, establishing safe evacuation procedures can become more complex – especially for occupants with mobility impairments. As a result, more careful planning is needed to develop emergency processes and procedures which consider the safety of every building occupant.

Gary Hicks, manager, Evac+Chair International Middle East will be speaking at FM Expo on 18 September at 1:30pm in the Theatre of Inspiration to discuss the importance of planning, testing and training when implementing effective evacuation procedures. He will also be defining which critical areas should be considered to ensure occupants remain safe, whether you’re dealing with a fire, security threat or climate or environmental threat.

The Evac+Chair team will be performing on-stand demonstrations of Evac+Chair’s extensive range of evacuation solutions which help to safely transport disabled or mobility-impaired occupants down flights of stairs. By using the chairs for themselves, visitors will be able to understand just how quick, easy to use and effective they would be in an emergency evacuation situation.

Best practice evacuation procedures are about more than fulfilling a ‘tick box’ exercise. To be effective, evacuation procedures must be part of your building or organisation’s culture, supported by clear communication and regular training. This will ensure everyone understands their roles and responsibilities, enabling a swift response to minimise risks.
