NGN International, a Bahrain-based system integration company, organised a cybersecurity workshop at the Capital Club in Manama in collaboration with Group-IB, an international cybersecurity company

The event took place in the presence of senior information security professionals from a number of leading Bahraini banks.

Yacoub Al Awadhi, CEO of NGN, stated that the workshop is in line with the directives of the government, the Economic Development Board and eGovernment to provide maximum protection against cyber security attacks against various government and private institutions.

“This is especially important with the accelerating pace of Bahrain’s digital transformation, and moves towards cloud computing,” he explained.

Al-Awadhi discussed that Group-IB’s products and services provided by NGN in the Gulf region are state-of-the-art cybersecurity tools and solutions based on unique cyber intelligence and proactive threat hunting tailored to all financial institutions in Bahrain and the rest of the GCC.

“We offer these advanced solutions at a time when we are witnessing a surge in hacker attacks against vital institutions such as government, banking, energy, and healthcare. The presence of more than 400 financial institutions in Bahrain makes it a major target for many hackers around the world,” he added.

Cooperation between NGN and Group-IB extends to providing Bahrainis with quality training in cybersecurity and closing the skills gap in the region’s related market.

Nicholas Palmer, vice-president of international business at Group-IB, highlighted that cooperation with NGN will play an important role in the development of Bahrain’s national economy.

“It shall further develop its cybersecurity expertise since the kingdom is vital Middle East’s financial powerhouse. Its rapid economic development and commitment to improving investment climate did not go unnoticed not only for the world’s financial industry leaders but also notorious hacker groups eager to have their finger in the pie. This step will help to attract more investments to the kingdom and the region by international institutions including banks and airlines, strengthening Bahrain’s position as a leading ICT hub in the region,” he concluded.NGN and Group-IB collaborate for cybersecurity workshop
