Genetec focuses on new innovations and regional growth at Intersec 2022

Security

The companys Vice President of Global Sales, Michel Chalouhi, and Regional Director for the Middle East and Africa, Firas Jadalla, explained Genetecs focus for Intersec 2022 and growth and development throughout the pandemic.

On the company's focus for Intersec 2022, Firas Jadalla explained, "Genetec has been exhibiting at Intersec as long as it's taken place- for the last couple of years, we have focused on our unified solutions, and that hasn't changed.

"Along with our usual range, we are putting additional emphasis on unique solutions - such as our Security Central platform, which is an all-in-one approach for video management, access control, and a whole range of security parameters."

Continuing, Jadalla explained the recent additions to the Genetec range that are on show at Intersec 2022.

"We're, as ever, pushing our new solutions too. We've adapted to the pandemic by putting a focus on touchless tech, and we're demonstrating our new ClearID system. ClearID is a physical identity and access management (PIAM) system, which integrates touchless visitor management technology to provide access without physical interaction. In the past, signatures had to be taken, proximity cards had to be issued, and all this was done manually. Now, visitors and those granted access are issued a QR code digital, with touchless scanning to access facilities. Automatic expiration is added to the code to ensure access is only granted during the designated period."

"On top of the ClearID solution, we've got a host of pandemic-related response technologies. Our people counting solution has been installed on a variety of premises that limit capacity and these products will continue to be offered."

On Genetec's recent partnership with Suprema, which will see Genetec implement the company's biometric control solutions, Jadalla elaborated, "We've been partnering with Suprema for several years. Formerly, their solutions were hosted through a third-party controller. We've partnered to integrate this directly with our access control solutions and cut out the middle man for establishments looking to adopt Suprema solutions within a Genetec system."

Michel Chalouhi, Vice-President of Global Sales for the company, then explained how the Middle East has enabled the company's significant growth over recent years.

"The Middle East is one of our top two operating regions, across North America, South America, Europe and Asia Pacific. The last couple of years especially has brought along some impressive expansion and growth in the market.

"This is down to two key factors. We're working towards full geographic coverage, expanding to new territories, such as Egypt and Qatar. We're also doubling down on our strongest regions, with sales and support pre- and -post-purchase expanding across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

"Additionally, as a whole, we've grown from a video management system to an all-encompassing security solutions provider. We offer access control, unified solutions, which has helped shift and lift our growth."

Discussing the future of the security industry and potential avenues for growth in the future, Jadalla continued, "Cybersecurity is the key focus of this year's Intersec and will be a key pillar moving forward. Even prior to the pandemic, Genetec has been advocating for education and adaptation around cybersecurity, helping people develop the right attitude and approach to cybersecurity risks.

"Organisations need to, of course, look at risks to customers, but also internally. Since the pandemic, with remote working, there's been a huge rise in cyber attacks. Organisations need to emphasise education and learning how to deal with these attacks to rise to the challenge."

In terms of Genetec's approach, Jadalla explained, "Most importantly, we've built and developed our solutions with cybersecurity in mind. We continue to update them to the latest cybersecurity benchmarks.

"The solutions aren't dedicated to cybersecurity and cyber risks, but ensure a level of compliance with best practise. The responsibility spans everyone, from the end user to the supplier to corporate management."

"If we approach organisations without dedicated cybersecurity staff, due to a lack of resources or ability, we ensure to educate them that all levels of organisations cannot fight the risk of cybersecurity without adequate response. We always make sure all installations and networks are protected. It's not about network or company size - the risk is huge to all businesses."

Genetec are showcasing their range at Stand SA-120 at Intersec 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Centre from January 16-18.
