Bosch launches biometric fingerprint reader for buildings

Technology company Bosch has launched the latest generation of biometric fingerprint reader, BioEntry W2

The new system allows full integration into the Access Engine of the Building Integration System (BIS) and the Access Management System for easy enrollment and configuration,as well as features such as fake finger detection for increased security.

Because of this ability, procedures such as fingerprint enrollment, assignment of cardholder data as well as access control can all be managed via the two alternatives software, making enrollment and configuration very convenient.

Furthermore, fingerprint templates can be stored either in the database of these two software alternatives or on the reader itself, ensuring functionality even if the server fails.

The BioEntry W2 reader is a dual-frequency smartcard reader that supports both low frequency (125Khz) and high frequency (13.56MHz) RFID technology including iClass and Mifare Desfire EV1, allowing the customer to use the reader with the credentials of his requirements. The support of Bosch coded credentials allows for maximum security. Thanks to its IK09 vandal-resistant structure coupled with IP67 ingress protection, the BioEntry W2 is the ideal reader for outdoor applications and harsh environments.

The security of the reader has been increased with its new, improved optical sensor to filter fake fingerprints. The engine blocks fake fingerprints made out of various materials such as clay, rubber, silicon, glue, paper, film, etc.
