Belden, a supplier of specialty networking solutions, and its Tripwire and Hirschmann brands have announced an extended partnership with Forescout, a specialist in device visibility and control, to advance cybersecurity for industrial organisations and critical infrastructure
Enhanced joint offerings will be introduced by the companies to address industry needs for network segmentation and threat detection to maintain visibility and protection from cyber events that threaten safety, productivity and quality.
Ashish Chand, executive vice-president, Industrial Automation at Belden, said, “Over the next decade, industrial networks will evolve to supply additional bandwidth to the machine level, allowing for applications to share the same network.
“Network segmentation will be imperative to meet availability requirements for these real-time, next generation industrial automation networks. Enhanced integration between the Forescout platform and infrastructure of the Hirschmann network makes segmentation an immediate, viable defence against cyber incidents. While other solutions require time-consuming, complex deployments, this integration enables rapid implementation across heterogeneous networks of automation, minimising disruption and downtime.
The addition of Forescout eyeSegment simplifies the initial creation and ongoing management of segmentation policies at scale, while also providing enforcement simulation prior to implementation to avoid any mission-critical operations disruptions.
Hirschmann’s switches are able to feed network flows from eyeSegment to provide visibility of traffic to the North/South and East/West. This innovation enables industrial networks to achieve micro segmentation-protecting critical assets from malware, ransomware and other reliable incidents.

Integrating the capabilities of Forescout, Tripwire, and Hirschmann provides a holistic, synergistic industrial cybersecurity platform for threat detection and response, allowing for both security and uptime.
Through the recent addition of Forescout SilentDefense to the Tripwire cybersecurity portfolio and Hirschmann Industrial HiVision for network management, the joint solution has asset inventory and advanced network troubleshooting capabilities which provide maximum uptime for both IT and OT perspectives.
