Oman’s BankDhofar has received the payments card industry data security standard (PCI DSS) version 3.2 compliance certification, one of the most rigorous industry-recogniaed payment-card security standards globally
With this achievement, BankDhofar becomes the first local Bank in Oman to attain PCI DSSv3.2 compliance and certification.
PCI DSS compliance and certification ensures the security of card data through a set of requirements established by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC), which is also considered the best way to safeguard sensitive data and information.
On the achievement, Dr Tariq Taha, chief information officer at BankDhofar, said, “At BankDhofar, we place a great attention on protecting our customers’ information. The PCI DSS certification has enabled us to build and implement a successful and best-in-class information security and cyber security strategy and controls, which leads to an increased protection of information.”
The PCI DSS is a set of security standards provided for entities that store, process or transmit cardholder data. Governed by the PCI SSC, the compliance certification aims to secure credit and debit card transactions against data theft and fraud.
