BankDhofar achieves data security re-certification

BankDhofar, an Oman’s financial services institution, has achieved re-certification and compliance with the latest version of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS version 3.2.1)

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is an information security standard for organisations that that store, process or transmit cardholder data and aims to secure credit and debit card transactions against data theft and fraud.

The PCI Standard is mandated by the international card brands and administered by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council.

BankDhofar had initially achieved the prestigious PCI DSSv3.2 compliance and certification in December 2017 as the first local bank in Oman.

Tariq Taha, chief digital and information officer at BankDhofar, said, “At BankDhofar we place great attention on protecting our customers’ information. The PCI DSS certification has enabled us to build and implement a successful and best-in-class information security and cybersecurity strategy and controls, which leads to increased protection of information.”

“The PCI DSS certification is a clear indication of the strength of our investments in people, process and technology for enhancing the customer experience by improving the security measures. This assures our customers of the best security against card frauds,” he added.

Achieving PCI DSS compliance and certification provides assurance to the customers that BankDhofar adheres to strict security standards, which include maintaining the proper security policies, procedures, processes, technologies and regulations to reduce payment card theft and fraud.
