AI can drive efficiency and safety: ADDO AI expert

The energy industry can free up more time for high-value activities and improve safety performance by adopting data-driven digitisation, according to an artificial intelligence (AI) expert

In a keynote speech at this year’s OPITO Global Conference on 6th November in Kuala Lumpur, Dr Ayesha Khanna, founder and CEO of Singapore headquartered ADDO AI will describe how AI and machine learning are delivering huge benefits in other sectors.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, OPITO Global is an international event focusing on energy industry safety and competency. Industry leaders and experts will share their insights on Safety 4.0, exploring how technology is helping to improve safety, health and wellbeing.

Dr Khanna has provided strategic advice to international corporations and governments and last year she was described by Forbes magazine as one of South East Asia’s most groundbreaking female entrepreneurs.

She said, “There is a perception that AI and machine learning is expensive to implement and a fear that jobs will go. But the reality is quite different. Using AI to replace repetitive or dangerous tasks can free up time and people for more valuable, safer activities.

“The new tech-enabled roles outlined in recent research mirrors what we are seeing across other sectors. Exciting new jobs are being created in virtual and augmented reality, utilising the Internet of Things and gamification techniques.”

OPITO CEO John McDonald commented, “I’m sure Dr Khanna’s vast experience of how other sectors are embedding AI and machine learning to deliver safe and efficient operations will inspire OPITO Global’s international delegates, many of whom are focused on digital skills challenges within their organisations.”

Dr Khanna’s clients have included Smart Dubai, the government agency tasked to transform Dubai into a leading smart city, SMRT, Singapore’s largest public transport company, SOMPO, Japan’s largest insurance firm and Habib Bank, Pakistan’s largest bank.

She will be joined by British astronaut Major Tim Peake, who will be sharing how he prepared for a six-month mission on the International Space Station and Malaysian entrepreneur, Azran Osman-Rani, who’ll describe how digital therapeutics are helping people embrace healthier lifestyles.
